Crying Over Spilled Milk
DMA Senior Capstone Project
2023
The phrase “don't cry over spilled milk” means to not make a big deal over things you don’t have control over. But I don’t agree with that. After the unexpected passing of my grandmother, this project was an opportunity for me to dwell in memories that felt like they were being taken away too soon. It was a chance to reconnect with that child whose imagination ran wild, while so much was rapidly changing around me.
Crying Over Spilled Milk is a photo book that attempts to piece together memories of growing pains, while simultaneously hurdling into the future at a million mph. I invite you into this world through film editorials, mixing real moments with surreal dreamscapes, making the reader feel as if they’re slipping in and out of consciousness.
